DO NOT RESPOND to email scams that ask you for your account number, credit card number, and personal identification numbers. Email messages that ask for this type of information are fraudulent, and should be reported immediately. This includes seemingly real notification from VISA Security and NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) requesting you go to a website and log in. We will never contact you and ask for this information.

IDENTITY THEFT ALERT!
Members: Elderly Tombstone area residents are being targeted in a phishing scheme. The scheme works as follows: A person impersonating a local financial institution employee is calling Tombstone area residents assuming they are customers of the institution. The person identifies himself as the Security Officer of the institution. The person then asks if the alleged customer has written a check to another local resident (another local name pulled from the phone book) for a certain amount of money. The perpetrator is hoping that even if the information is wrong, they will have established some legitimacy with the customer and will get them to give up real information about themselves and their accounts.

Do not respond to any caller who says they are an employee of a financial institution and then asks you for your personal information. In most cases, legitimate institutions already know the information these people are asking you for.

If you are contacted by one of these individuals and mistakenly do give them information, contact your financial institution immediately to close your accounts.
